Parking Portraits

is an independent Photography project that portraits the mostly elderlypeopleworkinginparkinglotbooths.AfterthefalloftheBerlin Wall and with it the collapse of the eastern political system there was a boom for privat security contractors in eastern European countries. Hiring mostly elderly people, suspended by society and on the edge of surviving with a bare minimum retirement money. Working for as little as 1 € / hour they are the guardians of privat parking lots. Sitting in small booths, behind windows that naturally frame their view to the outside world. While windows always stand for looking in and looking out, this project looks inside those booths and highlights the humans left in solitude, trying to have a connection and a purpose in a world that has no place for them.
